what you should do

1.

The first thing you must do is call for help, and get necessary medical assistance. Visit a doctor, and make sure to reveal the full truth about the cause of your injury, in order to be able to apply for a protection order. Call the police at 999 or AWARE organisation at 1800 777 5555, or visit your nearest community service center.

2.

Secondly, file a police report by visiting any police station, or calling 999. Even if you do not plan to proceed with further legal proceedings, it will help preserve legal protection. Please keep a copy of the report for future evidence, and retain any form of written communication.

3.

The next step would be to seek necessary psychological assistance (scroll down to find further information) and shelter, if needed. Please contact SACS, AMKFSC, or new hope for assistance with shelters. Often, you will require a referral from the police, or any of the aforementioned family service centers.

4.

Lastly, you must seek legal protection. Your police report is critical in applying for a protection order. Find out your eligibility for a protection order here. Please use the button below to find out more about personal protection orders. Stay strong and safe!
